Oldest woman in the world found in Edo State (PHOTO)

oshiomhole-woman1
A fresh claim has emerged challenging earlier report by the Guinness Book of Records, which had identified 116-year-old Italian, Emman Morano of Verbani as the oldest person on earth.
The new claims shows Madam Veronica Uloko in Edo State as the oldest.
Madam Uloko is 132 years of age and currently living in Iyamho community, Etsako clan, Edo State, the hometown of the outgoing Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

With this, Mama Uloko is 16 years older than Morano who is believed to be the oldest woman living on earth.
Though blind and unable to walk, the centenarian wants God to take her life because of the agony she was undergoing over the loss of three of her seven children, especially the 73-year-old son that died in August, this year.
Speaking to Vanguard, one of her sons, Obanor, said that the death of Mama’s son affected her health, as she did not want to live while her children died.
On how she feels at 132 years old, she averred thus: “I am very happy that God gave me a long life, but since my son died, I have been praying to God to come and take my life. I cannot remain while my children are dying after getting old.”
Commenting on Oshiomhole’s government, she said: “Our people in Iyamho are not cowards and they live straight forward life, they do not cheat and they are very bold people and I think that is why God blesses us with long life and wisdom, including Oshiomhole, in Iyamho.”
Madam Uloko, who is excited by Oshimohole’s developmental strides in the state, said: “We are happy that only one man came to rescue us, not only our people, the entire Edo north and Edo state.

“God will bless Oshiomhole. When he was announced as the winner, I was dancing with one leg inside because I could not walk as an old woman.”
“I pray that Oshiomhole will get another big appointment when he leaves as governor. I thank Oshiomhole for what he has done for our people, when you come to our village, Iyamho; you will not recognize the place again, as people continue to tell me because I can no longer see. I have prayed for him and I will continue to pray for him because he made our people proud,” she added.

She went on: “Governor Oshiomhole’s mother came to greet me the other day and I was happy. My father was older than me, but I am not happy at all since my son died and I have been weeping since then. I can no longer see well, I use to see very well but I can no longer see well. I have seven children, but one died three months ago, while two died years ago. So I am not happy at all.
“I married at the age of 18 at Olueke. When I was at Olueke, I spent 12 years without a child. So my father advised me to leave the marriage since I could not have any issue with the man. So I came back to my father’s house and spent another four years before I met my husband that we had the four children together.

“In fact, before I got married to my second husband, he had nine children already with another woman. We are very happy to have longevity in our family. People in my father’s community, Iyamho, enjoy long life. My father was 87 years before he died; he was the oldest man in Afowa village before he died.

“I thank God for giving me long life and that is all I pray for people today, but I am no longer enjoying it due to the death of my son.”

4 Common Mistakes When Building Website

The fact is anyone can now build a professional website. Website builders like Six, Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, Blogger and others have made it all easy, even though you have no professional experience with web designing or coding, you can still easily sign up with these platforms and create your professional website.

All this said if you are building a website for the first time, you would still need to consider a few guidelines that you are sure not to be aware of, so we would be discussing the 4 Common mistakes when building website so you can avoid them when building your own website.

No Navigation: This is a common mistake in when building and it occurs when visitors visit your website and are not sure of where or how to find the information they need and find it tough to discover your previous contents. When links are hard to find, buttons are not visible or are placed in the wrong spot making them inaccessible to the visitor then you would be experiencing a lower bounce rate on your website as visitors won't be able to play around your webpage and would be largely restricted to the landing page. When designing your webpage from scratch there needs to be a logic, and a lot of common sense in how you organize your website navigation. As a web owner you would want your users to be able to find what they need on your page in as few clicks as possible and won't want to stress them when they are seeking or information. The best thing to do is to keep your header, footer and navigation bar consistent on each page and also have a search bar somewhere on the page so as to assist them, you would also need to make all your pages and post easily accessible to your site visitors.

A disorganized homepage: When building a website you should pay more attention to the design and layout of your homepage as this is usually the first thing your visitors see on your website. You have to use this opportunity to create a good impression of your website to your visitors and guarantee they would continue to browse it. If your are running an online business and your homepage is looking packed and flashy, your visitors who are potential customers might feel tempted to just walk away. You can actually offer a lot of great content on your website but display them in a simple and organized way. It is also advised that you don’t use too much text on your homepage, and if you want to use multiple images, going for a sliding gallery would also be more preferable.

Outdated contents: Everyone loves to be updated frequently even bots. So don’t give the impression that you just launched a site and left it there. You have to show the world that you are active. If your site is meant for business people won’t bother to get in touch with you if your site seems abandoned and if its a blog or news page it sure does need regular updating. Doing this also affects how you website ranks in search engines. The more recent your contents are, the more often is gets indexed by Google and other search engines so the best thing to do is, keep updating.

Launching without testing: It is true that most website builders like Wix gives you the power to build your website on your own without the help of a professional, but you still need to crosschecked yourself for broken links, spelling mistakes, alignment issues and other things that you might have over looked. You would need to go over the entire website by yourself, and it is good to also get another pair of eyes to browse through it and give you their thoughts before launching your webpage.

THE PLAN TO RE-ARREST AND DETAIN ME ONCE AGAIN BY THE EFCC

I have been reliably informed by my sources within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that they are planning to re-arrest and detain me for as long as possible once again even though I have been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Fresh charges were filed against me by the EFCC at the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 7th. The allegations border on a baseless allegation and false claim that I received twenty six million naira from the NSA's office in 2014. These are politically-motivated charges and there is no truth in or substance to them whatsoever.
Fani-Kayode & wife, Chikwendu

The case has been assigned to a judge and the date for arraignment has been set for 10th November before Justice Tsoho of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
My lawyers were in court for the original date of arraignment on the 14th of October but for some curious reason the EFCC did not show up on that day.
The matter was therefore adjourned till 10th November and my lawyers have given an undertaking to the Judge to ensure that I am in court on that day. They have also written to the EFCC to that effect and our letter was acknowledged by them.
Because of that the matter is now seized of the court yet the EFCC are still planning to arrest me probably at the premises of the Federal High Court in Lagos after I appear there on friday 21st October to attend my trial on the trumped up and, again, politically-motivated charges concerning the presidential campaign funds.
If they do not arrest me then they will arrest me and seek to detain me for as long as possible soon after that. Whichever way they will come and I am ready for them. I am not running.
The truth is that the EFCC are a ready, willing and able tool in the hands of the hawks and hardliners in the Buhari administration and they are apparantly acting on orders.
They are desperate to keep me out of circulation and off the streets and I have been reliably informed that they were ordered to ensure that that is the case by the Presidency.
They are also eager to arrest and detain my wife and my 8 month old son just to hurt and spite me even though they have done absolutely NOTHING wrong.
By the time I am in their custody they will start churning out all manner of garbage and lies to the media about me and my family and they will say all sorts of things about supposedly new matters which they have "just discovered" and "fresh allegations".
They will even claim that I have admitted to certain crimes, that I have been badly implicated and that I in turn have implicated other people. Please do NOT believe a word of these dirty lies when they start flowing. It is called disinformation and the EFCC indulge in it all the time.
That is their stock in trade and they will feed the press with all manner of garbage knowing that I am not there to defend myself, to set the record straight or to expose their fabrications.
That is their way. That is their style. They will say and do anything to demonise, humiliate, destroy, convict on the pages of newspapers and detain indefinately (with the aid of questionable detention orders from equally questionable magistrates and judges) those that they hate and all their perceived enemies.
Their plan is to attempt to justify keeping me off the streets for the next one month and even longer even though I am already out on court bail.
I have known about this evil plan for over one month now and I am not deterred. I am not scared or intimidated and I urge them to do their worse and let God judge between us.
The more evil they do to me, the more the coals of fire will pour on their heads. Also the more the President will continue to fail woefully and have all manner of strange and inexplicable problems.
Wickedness and wicked men never last. No matter what they do to me that is my consolation. They are bullies and cowards and they have no shame.
My only crime is that I have spoken the bitter truth to power and I am very proud of that.
That is what God created me to do. It is my calling and I stand by every word that I have ever said about this President and this evil, corrupt and inept government.
As long as there is life and breath in me I will continue to speak the truth and fight for a better Nigeria.
This government is vicious, vengeful, inept and toxic and so is their willing tool the EFCC.
As I am in their cells and subjected to their barbaric torture and wicked and inhuman treatment for another period of time I shall continue to pray for Nigeria.
I shall also remain strong in my faith and continue to trust in my Lord.
I urge all those that believe in me, read my essays, follow my posts and share my vision and views to stay strong, to keep the flag flying, to fight a good fight and to never give up or falter despite the tyranny that we face and the fascists that we are confronted with.
They may have today but tomorrow belongs to us. In the end our God will rise up in His power and in His might and He will rid us of this evil and this terrible and accursed affliction.
In the end, despite all their lies, falsehood, misrepresentation, malevolence, malice and vicious persecution, we shall prevail because our God is mighty.
Therefore stand tall, stand strong and have no fear. For even though the night may be dark, joy comes in the morning.
I love you all and thank you for your continous prayers, love and support and for having faith in me. You humble, strengthen and inspire me. Every single one of you.
I go forth to carry my cross. I go forth to follow my calling. I go forth to walk into my glorious destiny. God bless u. Shalom.

The Many Lies in John Paden’s Book on Buhari – Reno Omokri

The book ‘Muhammadu Buhari-The Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria’ by Professor John Paden is not only an intellectually lazy work, it is also a fallacious document hastily put together to paint the protagonist in the borrowed garb of an effective leader who is cleaning the Augean Stable of misrule and corruption in Nigeria, but my question is this – how can you fight corruption with lies?

I have taken my time to x-ray the book and I cannot help but agree with the national leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress that Paden has done a great disservice to the truth. If I were Paden, I would consider a career in fiction writing. His talents are much better suited for that than to scholarly and investigative work.

On page 52 of the book, Professor Paden declares that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan declared for the April 2011 Presidential election on Saturday, 18th of September 2011. But for a man who was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford University, Paden did not show much scholarliness because if he did, he would have established that Dr. Jonathan made world history by being the first ever Presidential candidate to make his declaration on the social media platform, facebook, on Wednesday the 15th of September, 2016, a feat which was featured on the New York Times, the Washington Post and in several international news media.

If this was the only error in the book, one could forgive Paden, but the errors go on and on. For example on page 53, Paden, without citing any proof or evidence, called Dr. Jonathan’s margin of victory in the South-south and Southeast ‘nonsensical’, but then he goes ahead to accept President Buhari’s margin of victory in the North as valid even though they mirrored Dr. Jonathan’s margins in the South. On page 55, Paden called to question Jonathan’s handling of the economy but then in page 60 he admits that the 7% GNP growth Nigeria attained under Jonathan was “impressive”.

Does Paden suffer from a split personality? Here he is calling into question former President Jonathan’s ability to manage an economy that he himself admits generated an impressive growth yet he is praising a President Buhari under whom Nigeria has gone into recession.

I don’t get it Paden! Perhaps Paden should have written a book singing Jonathan’s praises instead of President Buhari’s! Then he attacks Dr. Jonathan in page 55 over the 2012 attempt to remove fuel subsidies and pointed to the street protests that broke out in reaction, but curiously failed to mention that such protests were instigated and led by the then opposition members including President Buhari’s former running mate, Pastor Tunde Bakare, who was openly at the fore front of the protests and Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who coordinated activities during the Occupy Nigeria protests. This is nothing short of intellectual dishonesty. On page 59, Paden says ‘President Jonathan had signed a pledge in 2011 to run for only one term’.

This is just a lie and betrays the fact that Professor Paden might have replaced investigation with gossip as a means of gathering information.

I make bold to say that if Professor Paden can produce a copy of the signed pledge then I would give him a million dollars! On page 65, Paden goes ad hominem saying “President Jonathan seemed more focused on hanging onto power by looting the public treasury”. The above is nothing short of libel. But before he is made to answer for his lies in court, let me ask Paden a simple question.

If what he wrote about Dr. Jonathan looting the treasury is true, then how come Nigeria was able to have what he himself agrees was an ‘impressive’ economic growth and how come Nigeria made progress on the annual Transparency International Corruption Perception Index?

On page 67, showing his inability to give credit to whom it is due, Paden accused Jonathan of appointing partisan and dishonest Resident Electoral Commissioners for States so they could assist the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) rig elections but praised INEC Chairman Professor Attahiru Jega for his honesty.

What he failed to mention is that it was President Jonathan who nominated and appointed the honest Jega without having ever met him and that it is this same honest Jega that was fully in charge of posting officials to states to serve as Resident Electoral Commissioners and who (along with his board) had power to recall and discipline any REC.

Then on page 68, Paden outdid himself as a liar when he said “faced with these results, would Jonathan concede, or would he challenge the results in court?” Paden continues on his lying spree by saying inter alia that ‘several former African heads of state held private meetings with Jonathan….they insisted…that he accept the results”.

Not yet done with his fallacies, Paden continues “there was considerable international pressure on Jonathan, including by the Archbishop of Canterbury and Western Diplomats”.

All these are the figment of the imagination of either Paden or his sources. To prove that Paden is a liar, I will quote Mansur Liman, the editor of the BBC Hausa Service in Nigeria, who was at the INEC Elections Result Center in Abuja WHILE results were being released.

Mr. Liman testified verbally on the BBC Hausa service and in writing on its website that while results were still being AWAITED and BEFORE INEC had declared Buhari as winner of the election, he had placed a call to the Buhari campaign and testified that his contact within the Buhari campaign “told me that Gen Buhari had just received a phone call from his rival, in which the president conceded and congratulated him.”

Testifying further, Mr. Liman said that the report he received indicated that “the president (President Jonathan) took the decision to make the call without consulting anyone.

They told me that if he had talked to some of his advisers, they would have objected.” This is a direct testimony from a man on the ground with timelines and records that can stand up in court.

Are we to jettison his eyewitness and substantial documentary evidence for the unsubstantiated lies of Paden?

But even without taking into account Liman’s testimony, I traveled to London after making calls to one of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s closest and most senior aides and after a face to face interview with one of the people involved I have established beyond reasonable doubt that the Archbishop of Canterbury DID NOT call Dr. Jonathan to mount pressure on him to concede.

Paden lied!! This is a direct quote from an official in the Palace of Lambeth when I interviewed him on Paden’s claims-“that is nonsense. The Archbishop did not call to put pressure on President Jonathan to concede. He called AFTER President Jonathan had conceded to congratulate him for conceding!” I urge Nigerian newspapers to reach out to the Palace of Lambeth to investigate John Paden’s claims themselves.

Both Paden and his source are liars! If anybody has a history of problems conceding when he was defeated, that person is none other than President Muhammadu Buhari himself.

In his three previous unsuccessful attempts at the Presidency, not once did Muhammadu Buhari ever concede much less congratulate the victor. Instead, his comments when he lost were at best uncharitable and at worst unpatriotic! But oh, there are more lies in Paden’s book. On page 195, Paden lies again when he said that in May of 2016 while Dr. Jonathan was in the US, he had to “cancel some of his public engagements because of protests by Nigerians living abroad”. This lie is so easy to disprove.

Dr. Jonathan did not cancel any events. He could not attend two events in California and he asked me to represent there. The two events were his Keynote speech at the California State University in Sacramento and his leadership award by two California cities. The truth of the matter is that Dr. Jonathan took ill and it was the officials of Nigeria’s mission in New York who actually took him to hospital.

Both Dr. Paden and President Buhari can call the head of Mission in New York to confirm if this is true. And lies are not the main problem of Paden’s book.

The main problem is that for a book on President Buhari, Paden’s book places too much focus on blaming others for the President’s shortcomings. One would have thought that such a book would at least talk of President Buhari’s achievements, but on second thought, when you have a President who has little or no achievements, I suppose you would have to make do with lies and accusations as fillers for a book on him otherwise such a book would be very slim.

Let me end by saying that no matter how close Professor Paden thinks he is to President Buhari, he cannot be as close to him as the President’s own wife and mother of his kids.

After he finished giving his procured and false whitewashed verdict of the President, the President’s wife gave the real verdict on President Buhari just a week ago as follows: “if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again.”

No wonder that while Paden devotes over 60 pages of his 284 page book to former President Jonathan, he only devotes a few sentences in two pages (36-37) to the President’s wife, Aisha Buhari. Of course, he tried unsuccessfully not to call too much attention to the one person who could disprove all the lies in his book. Thank God for the courage of Aisha Buhari.

Nigeria And Aisha Buhari’s Frustrations

By Okanga Agila

The informal office of the First Lady of a country or a state is a concept extremely African. Often, the world is assailed with the bogus appellation of the “First Lady” of Ghana, Ethiopia, Togo or Nigeria and the rest.
In contrast, it is something of a taboo to hear of anything in the semblance of something like “The First Lady” of America or Britain or even Brazil. For instance they are known as “Wife of American President” or “Wife of the British Prime Minister.”
Women are powerful as documented in the Biblical story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden known to all.
However, the perception of Africans is different. The average African believes behind every successful man is the shadow of a woman. So, African nations have seen First Ladies who wield far more tremendous influence than their husbands whom destiny has entrusted leadership of these countries.
Nigeria shared this burden in her recent history, when former President Goodluck Jonathan held sway in Aso Rock. His wife, Dame Patience Jonathan was a real swagger and she was everywhere with her title of First Lady.
But the President Muhammedu Buhari’s presidency has altered the aura of importance hitherto attached to the “office” of The First Lady. Buhari first stripped its bogus status by proclaiming that his wife remains “Wife of the President” and not any First Lady of any hue.
Nevertheless, a woman or wife remains the outer ego of the man or husband. A wife is the first to know the state of mind of her husband.  Sometimes, she even reads the countenance of her husband and predicts fairly accurately, his mindset, anger or frustrations on any matter.
President Muhammedu Buhari’s wife, Aisha Buhari hinted of her possession of these attributes in an interview with BBC recently. Aisha famed for her quiet and reticent nature told the entire world that she might not be part of her husband’s re-election campaign trail in 2019, if he fails to shake-up his cabinet.
Aisha could sincerely mean all what she has uttered or even much less. What cannot be taken away is her personal concern that the President would have achieved far higher than what is currently obtained, assuming perpetual distractors and sabs had gone on vacation.
Another feeling runs through the blunt declaration. Aisha may have been so  inspired to come this far by the deliberate inclination of some cabal to frustrate, rather than  appreciate the job her husband is doing with all sincerity to emancipate Nigeria from its manacles of regression.
Nigerians do not know Aisha as a politician. She is not flippant or loquacious. Even at the peak of her husband’s presidential campaigns in 2015, Aisha hardly spoke at campaign rallies.
Therefore, Aisha’s frank political statement in clear and uncoated language is undoubtedly a response to the ceaseless pricking of an inner pain and the frustrations she shares with her husband, President Buhari. She believes Buhari is unduly “tortured” for accepting to lead Nigeria to redeem the lost glory of his fatherland.  If she were an astute politician, she would have presented the idea differently.
At the risk of anything, it is deducible that Aisha is admonishing Nigerians to stand up and support the President to reclaim their country from some desperate and powerful political cabal bent on stalling his efforts to re-invent Nigeria. But as a political naiveté, Aisha’s sight of her husband’s innocence, but the insistence on his demonization, could not restrain the out-pouring of these emotions as plainly as possible; and to her eyes, the  remedy is cabinet shake-up.
Aisha  stated the obvious that Buhari’s government is hugely peopled by senior government officials whom he cannot vouch for their character, integrity and those who do not  even share the vision of the ruling APC “change” agenda.  But they made the cabinet because of the influence wielded by a “few People.”
Interpreted differently, Aisha indirectly punctures this category of appointees as the saboteurs or sabs in the system, frustrating everything and undermining the efforts of Mr. President to salvage Nigeria.
A wife of many decades stands a chance to know her husband’s political allies and associates, particularly someone like Buhari, who has spent years politicking. But most members of Buhari’s cabinet are new faces to her, though she married the President 27 years ago.
She is peremptorily prophesying that  if   the present trend continues and the masses of  Nigeria fails to rise en masse to  checkmate this cabal, in 2019,  the country would still be the shadow it has always been in the last 16 years.
There are cogent lessons to be learnt in Aisha Buhari’s utterances. Indisputably, it is impossible for Buhari to know every member of his cabinet back to back because, politics in Africa, like elsewhere is a product of negotiations.  It only becomes a problem, when your cabinet is overshadowed by strange bed-fellows and worse still, those who do not share in your vision.
The few members of Buhari’s cabinet known to him and who have contributed exceptionally to the success of the administration have been under severe antagonism, blackmail and other forms of attacks orchestrated by the powerful cabal.
But the economy is in recession and the naira in a free fall against the US dollar, but none of them deem it worthy to query the competence of the immediate government officials overseeing these segments of governance and so the rhythm goes.
Certainly, President Buhari is not a power drunk, but targets success in whatever he does. Like he said, his wife who is not a politician and she is confined to domestic affairs. But the message has been delivered anyway.
And despite the odds staked against him by the opposition of whatever pretensions, he is steadily conquering the obstacles and emerging victorious.  The “thank you” the President and his family expects from Nigerians is their massive support for the rediscovery of Nigeria of their cherished dreams; dreams long gambled in the air.
Okanga writes from Agila, Benue State.
